COMMUNICATION BARRIERS

1. Michael works as a sales representative in the new south wales showroom and ware house of the wood panel division of a large Australian company. Woodstone. Senior buyers for a large kitchen joinery firm based in queensland and Victoria visit the new south wales showroom and show a keen interest in the new products .Michael is able to make further contact with this client firm by letter , telephone or personal visit.

A out line the advantages and disadvantages of the three possible channels of communication.

Answer: · A connection between initiating and terminating nodes of a circuit.

Advantages of channel communication

1 using of already existing infrastructure power network ,radio channel ,telephone lines

2 confidentiality of data communication .

3 high interference resistance thanks to noise shaped signal and special processing algorithms.

Disadvantages of channel communication

1. limited bandwidth means slower performance for sound, video and large graphics.

2. new technologies always require time experience and money in order to take full advantage of its capabilities.

3 it may take lost of time to deliver.

b. Decide which of them Michael should use for the fist follow up contact with this potential client .Give reasons for your choice of channel .

Answer; Michael should use for this potential client communication clearly to customer .He give the proper support for them. Michael is able to make further contact with this client firm by letter, telephone as well as personal visit.

2a one of the most important skill that any person in an organization need is the ability to communicate. Without communication your other skill are less useful ,explain the meaning of this statement.

Answer; The main point here is that most organizations need to make a considerable change in mind set if they are to succeed in a world where all business need to master communication almost to the same degrees media business most organizations still see information captured in documents and databases as their key assets .now they need to see the member of ability to make use of those assists and communicate efficiently as their key assets.

B. Should an organization train its staff in workplace communication ?Give reasons for your answer.

Answer; yes Effective communication in the workplace is very important for a smooth and efficient running of the organization. The manager should have good communication with their subordinates, or will lead to employee absenteeism, lower development of networks within an organization vines. There should be productivity, two-way communication in an organization. Manager to have personal contact with subordinates. We must communicate clearly the objectives and strategies for the organization and subordinates should be informed of these goals and strategies.

Answer; The main barrier to effective communication is language. If the two parties involved in the communication don't understand each others language perfectly then some degree of misunderstanding will take place.

4. Two colleagues, Mary and David, meet in David’s office to discuss the introduction of the new software package on the agenda at tomorrows staff meeting .As they talk through the procedure to introduce this package to other staff;

· .David answer and deals with a telephone call and then continues the conversation with Mary;

· Another person enters David’s office and interrupts the conversation to ask Mary to solve a problem in the delivery times for stock;

· When Mary has provide the solution ,Mary and David resume their discussion;

· Mary looks at her watch and exclaims that it time for her next appointment;

· As they rush to finish their plans they discuss who will present the new software procedures at the staff meeting .When that item come up, Mary expects David to present the procedure; David believes Mary is to present it.

Answer The misunderstanding between Mary and David another person enters David’s office to ask the delivery times for stock .So Mary and David forget about the discussion on software package

Answer Communication is very important in the workplace .A prime example of communication at the workplace brings Enron to mind .Communication is important in all levels of an organization. For example co-workers may communicate amongst themselves .Effective ways to do so obviously depend on the environment. Communication used from middle management to upper management or corporate headquarter is going to be dominated.

· b What is the relationship between the message and the channel?

Answer A method and device for obtaining the relationship between a channel and the corresponding media files from the message and sending or receiving the channel information .The receiver obtain the relationship between the channel and the corresponding media files base upon the received message. A channel is the means or technique used to signal or convey a message.

· C How is feedback transmitted in nonverbal communication?

Answer Non verbal communication is sent by any means other then words. Nonverbal components occur in oral, written and graphic communication, as well as oral communication these include facial expressions, body movement ,posture and dress. Other is feedback is an essential part of successful interpersonal communication It is the receivers response to the sender message and can be intentional of unintentional.

person’s perception of the message?

Answer 1. Perception is the way people understand or give meaning to their environment.

Answer Communication noise refers to influence on effective communication that influence the interpretation of conversation form of communication noise include physical noise and semantic noise.

Answer I am agree “communication is learned behaviour .Because we can lean how to communicate to another person we can use good listening skills and are aware of their own concerns and need .Good communication are honest with themselves and others have the ability to say what they want to feel, but not at the expense of others.

· G Why is it important for both the sender and receiver of a message to have empathy for the other person?

Answer It very important to both sender and receiver because they can solve the problem through message

Empathy understands the other person's feelings, attitudes, beliefs and values. You are able to "walk a mile in someone else's shoes". You must be objective and listen actively. You have to keep your own feelings out of it so you are really able to understand the other person's feelings, even if you think they are wrong.

· 6 Checking what the other person said

· a Work in group of three (A,B and C).

· persons A and B are to discuss a topic of interest by taking opposite sides. Person C is the observer.

· Person A open the discussion. person B gives feedback to person A by summarizing what person A has said before giving an opposing view .person A summaries what person B has said before person A continues with their opposing view.

· Continue this for 10 minutes. When person C believes that either person A orB has not summarized the other persons point of view accurately person C can give feedback to both A and B .
