1. Communication is an interactive process. Briefly explain

communication is interactive process because communication is flows of information to one person to another person. People place meaning and messages received from others. The interactions of several elements affect the people communicating.

2. verbal, nonverbal Define and give an example of and graphic communication

(a) verbal communication :-verbal communication means commucating between two or more people by spoken words like oral communication and second is written words in written communication



(b)nonverbal communication :-nonverbal communication take the form other than words or graphics.Non verbal components include oral communication like facial expressions, body movement ,posture and dress.

Format and layout are some of the nonverbal components of written and Graphic communication.

(c)Graphic communication :-Graphic communication represents ideas relationship or connections visually with shapes ,diagrams and lines. Graphic communication can have both verbal and nonverbal components - for example ,some of the 'NO SMOKING' signs displayed in public places.



3. (a) Define the terms 'sender' and 'receiver'.

Sender :- communication begines with the sender Senders are individuals who react to situations from a unique vantage point interpreting ideas and filtering experiences through their own perception

Receiver :- The receiver or interprets the message to achieve understanding. In doing this the receiver is also acting as an individual from a unique vantage point ,interpreting the idea according to a particular personal perception of the message

(b)Define the term 'message'

The message is the idea or feeling transmitted from the sender to the receiver to achieve understanding. It makes a connection between sender and receiver.

(c) Define the term 'feedback'

Feedback is considered part of the "response". Feedback is therefore defined on the response tab in the properties editing area - i.e. the same place where you type in the answers. Sometimes text fields will be provided for this purpose; sometimes feedback
will be part of a table for you to fill in.
  • Feedback indicates understanding or misunderstanding of the message.
  • Feedback gives the communication continuity
4.(a)Define the term 'perception'.
  • Perception is the way people understand or give meaning to their environment. Perception & interpretation of the same message varies according to how each individual's perception is influenced by experience, attributes and beliefs and a range of acquired skills or expectation.
  • Factors:
Expectations, Self-concept, experience, feelings, attitudes and values, family.

5. (a) Different types of communication


Verbal (oral & written)- When people communicate with each other via face to face or message is known as verbal communication.

Non verbal - When people communicate via sign language is known as non verbal communication.

Graphic - When people communicate via picture & sign is known as graphic communication.
