Ques: ‘Communication is an interactive process.’ Briefly explain.

Ans 1: “Communication is an interactive process”. Communication means as the line depicts its interacting with others i.e sharing our ideas, emotions and views with others. This include encoding and decoding of data which we are going to communicate with others. Communication is an interactive process because in communication sender sends a message to the receiver to communicate his views with him and the receiver sends the appropriate answer to the sender after having the proper understanding of the message that is feed back. In the mean time of this process encoding and decoding of the context and selection of the proper channels takes place. The choice of channels is made after considering the needs of the situation. There are auditory means, such as speaking, singing and sometimes tone of voice, and non-verbal, physical means, such as body language, sign language, touch, eye contact or by using writing.

Ques 2: Define and give an example of verbal, non verbal and graphic communication.

Ans : Communication is of three types verbal, non-verbal and graphic communication.
Verbal communication: Verbal communication means a type of communication through which we convey our ideas, emotions by speaking to the others. Sometimes written materials is also included as a part of verbal communication. This means sharing dialogues and view with two or more people with the help of speaking skill.
Example: Communication between teacher and students, talking with friends in the canteen.

Non-Verbal Communication: Non- verbal communication means that kind of communication in which we sent our message to the other person without using any verbal means. Such messages can be communicated through gestures, body language or postures, facial expressions and eye contact, object communication such as clothing or arhitecture, or symbols and infographics, as well as through an aggregate of the above, such as behavioral communication. Nonverbal communication plays a key role in every person's day to day life, from employment to romantic engagements.
Example: Sometimes we feel that there is no need to speak to convey our message and we just convey our message just by passing a smile for greeting as a symbol of happiness and forn on the forehead as a sign of anger.

Graphic communication: Graphic communication means a type of communication in which we usually convey our messages with the help of Graphics just like symbols, diagrams, shapes etc. this is a visual way of representing our message to the others.
Example: A sign of flammable near the petrol pumps.


Ques 3:a. Define the terms ‘sender’ and ‘receicer.’
b. Define the term ‘message.’
c. Define the term ‘feedback.’

Ans : (a)Sender and Receiver: Sender and receiver are two important components of the process of communication. These are the basics of communication skills. We are not able to communicate if there is no sender or the receiver in short these two the two sides of the same coin communication.

Sender, the term in communication process means a person who is going to send a message to the other person so that he or she will be able to convey his ideas and emotions to that very person. The process of communication starts when the sender thinks to convey his ideas. Firstly he chooses the appropriate words or data to represent properly the message which he wants to convey and then after this sender chooses the means and medium of the sending of message.

(b)Message: Message means the idea or a thought which we want to share with the person with whom we want to communicate. After sender and receiver this is the second important element of communication. This enables the connectivity between the two persons the one who sends and the one who receive.

(c)Feedback: Feedback is the essential part of effective communication. It is a respose which sender receive in respond to his message from the receiver. This term gives continuity to the communication and it also stimulates the further process of communication. Feedback enables the receiver to know about the proper understanding of the message by the sender. In short we can say that both sender and the receiver needs feedback.

Ques 4: a. Define the term ‘perception.’
b. List the four factors that may influence the perception of the sender or
receiver of a message.

Ans: (a) The term ‘perception’ has a significant role in communication as it effects the process of communication. Perception is the way through which people understand or give the meaning to their environment. The way of perceiving the message may be differ from sender to the receiver.in short we can say that its like a mentality which differ from person to person. That is why its influences the communication as a result of individual differences.

(b) As we are much aware of that the term perception influences the process of communication. Perception of the same message differs according to the individual differences. Perception is mainly influences by the four factors that are:

Experience
Attitudes
Beliefs
Expectations

Ques 5: a. List four different types of communication.
b. Define these and give an example of each.

Ans: (a) Communication is of four types which are mentiones below:

Verbal communication
Non-verbal communication
Visual communication
Graphic Communication

(b) Verbal communication: Verbal communication means a type of communication through which we convey our ideas, emotions by speaking to the others. Sometimes written material is also included as a part of verbal communication. This means sharing dialogues and view with two or more people with the help of speaking skill.

Non-verbal communication: Non-verbal communication is the process of communicating through sending and receiving wordless messages. Speech may also contain nonverbal elements known as paralanguage, including voice quality, emotion and speaking style, as well as prosodic features such as rhythm, intonation and stress. Likewise, written texts have nonverbal elements such as handwriting style, spatial arrangement of words, or the use of emoticons. A portmanteau of the English words emotion (or emote) and icon, an emoticon is a symbol or combination of symbols used to convey emotional content in written or message form.

Visual communication: Visual communication as the name suggests is communication through visual aid. It is the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon. Primarily associated with two dimensionals images, it includes: signs, typography, drawing, graphic designs, illustrations, colour and electronic resources. It solely relies on vision. It is form of communication with visual effect. It explores the idea that a visual message with text has a greater power to inform, educate or persuade a person. It is communication by presenting information through visual form.
Example: Use of Flash Cards as a teaching aid in the class room for effective teaching learning process.

Graphic Communication: Graphic communication means representing ideas, emotions and thoughts with the help of visual shapes, diagrams and lines. In this type of communication both verbal and non-verbal communications are used.
Example: The sign of ‘SWITCH OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONES’ in hospitals and sign of ‘DANGER’ near the electric transformers.
