COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SKILLS

Q.1:-‘Communication is an interactive process. ’Briefly explain.

Ans. It is rightly said that communication is an interactive process because in such a process someone sends the message and as well as receives the message in a result .And while flowing of information there will be some meaning and structures of such messages which we received from others .The communication process takes place in various situations and for various different reasons and with the seven main elements:- sender ; message ; receiver ; feedback ; channel ; context or setting and interference or noise .

Q.2:- Define and give an example of verbal, nonverbal and graphic communication.

Ans. Verbal Communication is a communication in which one person will interact with two or more people in the form of spoken and written words .For example: - Conveying message through talking, speaking and writing.

Nonverbal Communication is a communication which is sent by any means other than words and graphics .But its components normally occur in oral ,written and graphic communication. For example: - Conveying message through facial expressions, dress , body language , gestures and postures in oral communication and by format and layouts in written and graphic communication.

Graphic communication is a communication which represents ideas, relationships or connections visually with shapes, diagrams and lines, and can have both verbal and nonverbal components. For example: - Conveying message through signs and images.

Q.3:- {A} Define the terms ‘sender’ and ‘receiver’.

{B} Define the term ‘message’.

{C} Define the term ‘feedback’.

Ans. SENDER: -

Senders are the individuals who interpreting their ideas and filtering experiences through their own perception and react to situations from a unique vantage point. They are engaging in a background of accumulated attitudes, experiences, skills , cultural conditioning and individual differences. The sender encodes an idea or feeling in such a words or signs that the other person will easily recognize it and he (sender) can easily transmits his message.

RECEIVER: -

Receivers are the individuals who interpreting the ideas according to a particular personal perception of the message and also acting as an individual from a unique vantage point. They are engaging in a unique background of experiences, beliefs, concerns and many other factors. The receiver decodes or interprets the message to achieve understanding.

MESSAGE: -

The message is an idea or feeling transmitted from the sender to the receiver to achieve understanding. That means it makes a connection between the sender and receiver.

FEEDBACK: -

Feedback is an essential part of effective communication or successful interpersonal communication. It is the receiver’s response to the sender’s message, which can be intentional or unintentional. It gives the communication continuity; indicates understanding or misunderstanding of the message and stimulates further communication and discussion.

Q.4:- {A} Define the term ‘perception’.

{B} List the four factors that may influence the perception of the sender or receiver of a message.

Ans. PERCEPTION: -

Perception has a significant influence on communication. It is the way people understand or give meaning to their environment. And it is influenced by experience, attitudes and beliefs and a range of acquired skills or expectations.

The four factors that may influence the perception of the sender or receiver of a message are as follows: - Experience; Feelings; Attitudes and Values and

Communication skills .

Q.5:- {A} List the four different types of communication.

{B} Define these and give an example of each.

Ans. The four different types of communication are as follows: -

VERBAL COMMUNICATION: -

Verbal communication is a communication which takes place in the form of spoken words between two or more people, or written words in written communication. For example: - conveying message through talking, speaking and writing.

NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION: -

Nonverbal communication is a communication which is sent by any means other than words and graphics and its components occur in oral, written and graphic communication. For example: - conveying message through facial expressions, body language, dress, gestures and postures {ORAL}, format and layouts {WRITTEN and GRAPHIC}.

GRAPHIC COMMUICATION: -

Graphic communication is a communication which represents ideas, relationships or connections visually with shapes, diagrams and lines. For example: - conveying message through signs and diagrams.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATION: -

Digital communication is a communication which takes place in the form of modern and digital technologies. For example: - conveying message through computers, e-mail, faxes and mobiles.
