COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SKILLS
1. ‘Communication is an interactive process.’ Briefly explain.
Communication processes are interactions between two or more people in which they exchange their ideas, thoughts, opinions, feelings or information by speech, writing, or signs.
Communication is a flow of information which sends by sender to a receiver via medium and receiver decodes the information and gives the reply to sender as a feedback.
Some time communication represent by singing language, touch, eye contact and tone of voice.
The person sending message should express clearly so the receiver is able to understand and give feedback.
Ex: the message sends to person using internet or phone.
Communication occurs in home, school, community and workplace.
Communication Process has main seven elements.
1. Sender(Source)
2. Message
3. Channel
4. Receiver
5. Feedback
6. Context
7. Interference of noise
Communication is classified in to three forms.
1. Verbal communication
2. Non verbal communication
3. graphic communication
2. Define and give an example of Verbal communication, non verbal and graphic communication.
Verbal communication
It is divided into written or oral (spoken) communication.
Spoken communication can face-to-face or conversations over the phone or on the voice chat over the Internet.
The other type of communication is written communication. It can be either via email by internet.
Non verbal communication
Non-verbal communication is expressed through body language, facial expressions, sign language, eye contact, touch and paralanguage.
The facial expressions play a major role while communication since the expressions on a person’s face says a lot about person mood.
Object communication occurs such as cloth like dress.
On the other hand gestures like a handshake, a smile or a hug can independently convey emotions.
Non-verbal communication includes the overall body language of the person, who is speaking,
Graphic communication:
Graphic are visual presentation by using symbol or diagram.
Graphic communication have both verbal and non verbal component.
Ex: left, right turn or bump ahead symbol in a street represent graphic communication
Another ex is drawing pictures, graphs, art, numbers, geometric design and map.
3 a. Define the terms ‘sender’ and ‘receiver’.
b. Define the terms ‘message’.
c. Define the terms ‘feedback’.
SENDER:
The sender encodes the information using their ideas or thoughts and filtering knowledge and experiences through their own perception in text or sign then transmits this message to the destination or receiver.
The sender is beginner of the communication process.
RECEIVER:
The information decodes by receiver from sender and under stands it.
Messages are delivered to another people. The people understand message and take an action or reaction on your message with their ideas and feelings and give respond.
Message:
The message is the information transmitted from the sender to receiver.
Message is the connector between the sender and the receiver.
Feedback:
The receiver gives respond to the message of sender its call feedback.
When the sender sends the information to receiver then receiver understand this information and give reply.
4 a. Define the term ‘perception’.
b. List the four factors that may influence the perception of the sender or receiver of a message.
Perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information which is receives from sender.
For example, color blind people will not perceive "red" the way as other people do. Those with normal vision may physically see "red" similarly, but will interpret it culturally.
red meaning "stop" or "anger" or "excitement"
red meaning "good fortune"
Another example, some people means that white color indicate peace(India)
Some people think white color indicate sorrow (India)
Factors that Influence Perception Differentially
1. Physiology - physical elements what information your eye or ear can actually take in
2. Culture –beliefs, attitude
3. Social roles-family, personality, habit
4. Cognitive ability- how your brain processes it
Context also affects the perception
5.a. List four different types of communication.
b. Define these and give an example of each.

Dear Mr. Brown
RE: DESIGN LAYOUT
I am writing in relation to the above-mentioned matter as I have some concerns relating to the draft design layout for my upcoming novel ‘Mystique’ that was sent to me on 21 July 2009.
I feel that due to the nature of the story line and title, the design should incorporate a sense of mysteriousness. Instead, the draft design is too bright and cheerful. I would prefer the colour combinations to include gold, black and dark ‘glossy’ green.
The design itself was unsatisfactory as I had anticipated something to reflect the story. As the story is mainly surrounding a forest, perhaps the designer would be able to have that as a backdrop with the title emerging from the trees.
I trust that you would take on board my feedback and concerns and I look forward to receiving a revised draft.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Manuja Rajendra
